As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My son is in his fourth year at KGA, and we are so grateful for this school! He has learned so much while having an incredible time, and he has really come out of his shell. The interpersonal and critical thinking skills he has developed are incredible! I wish my older boys could have had such a fantastic elementary school experience. Close Quote

Open Quote My child loved the learning opportunities there. She was happy that she could finally use her brain and ideas. Two of my children have gone there and they were very prepared for Junioh High and beyond. Great curriculum, fantastic teachers and involved staff. Close Quote

Open Quote As the parent of two students at KGA we are very pleased with the attentiveness to the individual needs of each student. Our son is easily distracted and they have provided amazing accommodations, recommendations and resources to help. Gifted kids can sometimes be quirky but in an environment of their peers they don't feel so odd. Their philosophy of teaching the students through projects provides the opportunity for a depth of learning that is unparalleled and helps the kids stay engaged rather than becoming bored with tedious repetitive work. This school is an excellent fit for the gifted mind. Close Quote

Open Quote I'm a parent of a child who goes to this school, and from my experience they deserve this ranking. The teachers are SPECTACULAR and the kids come to school everyday ready to learn!! This is a school that works hard everyday and is prepared. You will never see kids so excited to wake up every day and WANT to come to school. The principal and teachers have a bond wit the kids like no other. They listen to the kids and understand what they need help on but they don't hold the kids back they let the kids explore their limits and go beyond them. They push the kids to the type of level where they don't want to only go for the low-hanging fruit but the ones out of reach. They have the kids so ready for middle school when they get there it a piece of cake. Like I said before, this school deserved this first place ranking!!! Close Quote

Open Quote Knox Elementary is now Knox Gifted Academy (KGA), CUSD Gifted/CATS program. My son has been there since first year of repurposing. He has excelled and accomplished so much more than in regular schools. He enjoyed KGA and the ability and capability to learn so much more. To actually have his brain challenged. The teachers kept him involved and constantly challenged. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
