Kyrene Elementary District

The 25 schools in Kyrene Elementary District include 19 elementary schools and six middle schools, serving elementary and middle grades. Across schools, the unweighted averages are 50% in English language arts (ELA) and 43% in math, compared with state results of 41% and 33%. But results span 29% to 72% in ELA and 20% to 74% in math. The most important finding for families is that performance varies substantially from school to school, so district averages can hide large differences.

Kyrene de los Cerritos School leads in both subjects, with 72% in ELA and 74% in math—31 and 41 percentage points above state results—and SchoolDigger ranks it in the 95th percentile with five stars. Kyrene de la Sierra School is another strong all-around performer: 67% in ELA and 64% in math, 26 and 31 points above state results. Among middle schools, Kyrene Altadena Middle School stands out in math, with 47%, 45% and 50% in grades 6, 7 and 8, respectively. At the lower end, Kyrene Centennial Middle School has the lowest reported all-grades ELA result at 29% and ties Kyrene Middle School for the lowest math result, 20%—13 points below the state math result. Kyrene de las Lomas School has the lowest all-grades math result among elementary schools, at 30%.

SchoolDigger’s rankings show modest improvement over the longer comparison but little recent upward movement: 24 schools gained an average of 2 percentile points from 2023–24 to 2025–26, while their average change from 2024–25 to 2025–26 was a decline of 1 point. Kyrene de los Ninos School rose from the 21st to the 35th percentile over the longer span, while Kyrene de las Brisas School fell from the 74th to the 53rd. Enrollment and student–teacher ratios do not neatly track results: de los Cerritos and de los Ninos have similar enrollments, 395 and 391, but report 72% and 33% in ELA; their ratios are 16.9 and 12.1.
