Soldotna's bigger story is recent momentum that has stalled. The school climbed from near the bottom of state rankings to the 73rd percentile in 2022-2023 and the 68th in 2023-2024, then fell to the 39th percentile, where it has stayed for two straight years. Just 0.06 miles away, Soldotna Montessori Charter School posts far higher proficiency in every subject, though it also serves a much smaller share of low-income families.
