Open Quote Are you kidding? What scores are you reading? Crosby compared to other schools, I guess are doing ok, if that's your standard. Have you ever looked outside your "Louisville, KY" bubble and looked at how Crosby Middle compares to other middle schools?--Especially in other states? I guess its ok if your child doesn't plan to live anywhere outside Kentucky, maybe get a factory job. It rates very poorly; its over-populated, under-served and the learning environment is not that desirable. I had no choice at the time to send my 3 kids there, and I regret it. The reading and math readiness scores drop tremendously from Elementary to Middle school.
The English and Science Curriculum's are a joke! They don't study the classics and the school standards are low-I guess that's why they seem to do well on tests overall?(but still not great compared to other states) Kentucky schools overall this past year, have had a 5% drop in reaching Federal proficiency targets;only 55.6% made AYP for 2009-2010 under requirements of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. An example of this school's low expectations is that the teachers give students credit for copying down their homework in their agendas-really? Then they give them partial credit for just trying-really? Students who need extra attention fall behind, and the kids who could be excelling fall behind due to boredom and eventually slack off. The teachers baby these students way too much and not enough emphasis is put on excellence. This school is for average students with no problems...A glorified babysitting service. Close Quote
