Summary

Ranch View Elementary is a mid-sized public school serving about 740 students in grades K-6 within the Mountain View Elementary district in Ontario, CA, maintaining a consistent 3-star rating with academic performance generally near state averages.

The school has a notable strength in teaching science, where it outperforms both the district and state, and shows exceptional effectiveness in supporting its English Language Learner students. However, parents should be aware of two significant challenges: a high rate of chronic student absenteeism, which is above both district and state averages, and a concerning multi-year decline in the school's overall statewide ranking. Performance varies by grade, with reading skills showing strong improvement in the upper grades, and there is a consistent gap where female students outperform male students.

When compared to other schools, Ranch View spends less per student than several nearby schools like Mountain View Elementary and Creek View Elementary. The most striking comparison is with Park View Elementary, another school in the same district with similar resources; Park View has significantly higher test scores and a much lower absenteeism rate, suggesting factors beyond funding are at play. The school's performance with Asian students is an area identified for improvement.

Open Quote I rarely give bad reviews, especially for schools. Some of my family members are teacher/school principle, so I respect teachers.

The reason I give 1 star ( I wish I can give 0 star) is most teachers in this school are not nice to students and they have no heart for their students. Also some teachers are really rude, to the students as well as the parents. Kids got hurt, got bullied happens and the teachers don’t care. Close Quote
