As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I am currently a member of the Merton Intermediate School's 7th grade class. My family and I moved here from Illinois halfway through my 4th grade year. We are planning on moving to Idaho sometime in June.
My overall experience of this school was definitely not the greatest, and as you can see, my rating is a 2 out of 5 stars. I started off my school experience in 4th grade, and to be honest, I was a very talkative and hyperactive kid who was in the process of getting treated for ADHD, the teacher that I spent most of my time with was not the nicest to me, and often told me that my hyperactivity made me appear to others as 'foolish' and 'crazy'. When my year ended, I was excited for my 5th grade year to come.
Sadly, this year was also not the greatest. My transition from the Primary School to the Intermediate was very difficult, and I often felt very self conscious of the 8th graders who would repeatedly torture my fellow peers with comments that included very course language for our young ears. The teachers in this year were nice enough to catch the eye of my parents, but also mean enough to be frowned upon. My homeroom teacher was one of the best teachers in my experience of being at Merton. I still claimed the reputation of a 'crazed' and 'disobedient' child. My year in 5th grade came to a close with a great experience at a camp that the 5th grade traditionally attends as a celebration of some sorts.
My 6th grade year is the reason that I am writing this review, and a major impact on my rating. The teachers in this year were absolutely horrendous. For example, one of my teachers made the argument to one of my friends that I was 'manipulative' and 'sought out ways to weaken the abilities of my peers so that I would find the talents in myself.' But then later on, this teacher sent me mixed emotions by saying to my face that I was a 'brilliant student with high understandings of material.' This comment was a very kind one to me, that I cherish to this day, but my happiness was crushed when my report card for that year had very rude comments illustrating that I was 'a child without a filter that needs to be quiet when sharing opinions.'
So, I entered my 7th grade year completely dumbfounded, feeling as if my intelligence was nonresistant, and that my opinions shouldn't be voiced. I came into this year with a Major Depressive Disorder and was treated for my Anxiety. I came back after this 3 month period confused and quite behind on the homework that was still being assigned regardless of my medical issue. That next month, I was 'excused' from my role as a National Junior Honors Society (NJHS) member because my grades were terrible. My grades were like this because of my absence, not because of my efforts.
My teachers this year are okay overall, one in particular wants me to voice my opinions, but then argues them for his amusement knowing that I am wrong and he is right.
My experience at Merton Intermediate School will not be forgotten to me. And I appreciate the efforts that have been made to help students get a voice in this society.
Thank you for your attention. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
