Elk Mound High is a 9–12 high school of 348 students on University Street in Elk Mound, a small rural community about 15 miles west of Eau Claire, and it belongs to the Elk Mound Area School District, which ranks 87th of 432 Wisconsin districts. It is far smaller than the nearby Eau Claire high schools — Memorial High and North High, each enrolling about 1,550 students — and closer in size to Colfax High and Bloomer High.

The school's standout strengths are completion and attendance. It posted a 100% graduation rate and a 0.0% dropout rate in 2024–25 — the best in this group of neighbors, ahead of Chippewa Falls High (96.1%), Menomonie High (93.1%), and the state (92.0%). Chronic absenteeism is 5.9%, roughly a third of the state average and lower than every nearby school, including Altoona High (11.1%) and the Eau Claire schools.
