The Eau Claire Area School District in western Wisconsin serves about 10,004 students across 21 schools — 13 elementary, 3 middle, 3 high, and 2 alternative — with an overall district rating of 2 stars and 48th percentile, a figure that hides wide variation between individual campuses.

The strongest schools are at the top of the pack. Memorial High is the district's standout, holding 5 stars in each of the last three years (91st percentile) with a 93.8% graduation rate and 0.6% dropout rate, and it outperforms North High in every tested subject despite similar enrollment. South Middle is the strongest middle school at 4 stars and the least absent, and Meadowview Elementary and Manz Elementary are 4-star elementaries. Northwoods Elementary shows that higher poverty does not automatically mean lower achievement, posting solid reading and math results with over half its students on free/reduced lunch.

At the other end, Longfellow Elementary is the lowest-rated elementary at 1 star (20th percentile) with the highest poverty rate and spending of $21,045 per student.
