Summary

Whitney Elementary is a public PK–5 school in Yakima, WA, serving 433 students in a relatively high-need area near several other Yakima School District schools and nearby West Valley schools. In 2024–25, 81.06% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch, and the student–teacher ratio was 15.8:1. The school ranked in the 24th percentile statewide for 2025–26, but its results are generally stronger than those of many schools in its district.

Whitney Elementary exceeded the Yakima School District average in English language arts, math, and science. Math is its clearest relative strength: 33.18% of students were proficient, compared with 22.09% districtwide. Among nearby district schools, Whitney ranked approximately second in ELA and third in math. Fourth grade was a bright spot, with 43.59% proficiency in ELA and 41.03% in math.
