Summary

Larchmont Elementary School is a public elementary school (PK-5) serving 303 students in the Tacoma School District, notable for its high per-student spending and low student-teacher ratio compared to nearby schools.

Academically, the school's overall performance is below state and district averages, with proficiency rates in English, math, and science ranking in the bottom 20% of Washington elementary schools. However, it has shown significant historical strength in supporting English Language Learners and had a period of higher performance a few years ago. A notable pattern is that while 3rd-grade math scores are relatively strong, they drop sharply in 4th and 5th grade, which is a more pronounced decline than seen at some neighboring schools like Fern Hill Elementary School.

When compared to other local schools, Larchmont operates with more resources per student but has not achieved the same academic results as some peers. For instance, James Sales Elementary in the neighboring Franklin Pierce School District outperforms it with lower spending. This suggests the school has specific supports in place for certain student needs but may have opportunities to improve the consistency of its academic outcomes, particularly in the upper elementary grades.

Open Quote This school looks down on parents and it feels like they want to control every aspect of not only the childs education but, there upbringing as well. If they do not like the way you raise your child or the belief system you hold they will not keep an open line of communication with you but, instead go behind your back to get things they feel need done accomplished.

This has been the worst experience of my life and I can not wait for this year to be over with. Close Quote
