Summary

Poulsbo Middle School is a consistently strong public school serving about 713 students in grades 6-8 within the North Kitsap School District, a 4-star district that ranks in the top third statewide.

Academically, the school outperforms Washington state averages in all core subjects, with particular strength in mathematics where it leads its own district. It shows remarkable consistency, maintaining a stable ranking over the past decade while some neighboring schools, like Kingston Middle School in the same district, have seen more significant fluctuations. Compared to schools with similar student populations, such as Albert Einstein Middle School and Ridgetop Middle School, Poulsbo achieves higher proficiency rates, especially in math. It does this while spending less per student than some peers, suggesting efficient use of resources.

The school demonstrates notable success with military-connected students and shows resilience, maintaining performance even when other schools saw dips. While it doesn't match the exceptional scores of schools in more affluent areas like Woodward Middle School or Sonoji Sakai Intermediate on Bainbridge Island, it stands out as a high performer within its immediate community. An interesting internal pattern is that seventh graders excel in English Language Arts compared to other grades. The school's main challenges are supporting specific student subgroups to match its overall strong performance.

Open Quote This school is honestly good, its the students that make it bad. Most of "Popular" kids either bully, steal, lie, or vape. The teachers and other staff members try to keep spirit but most just can't. The lunch is fine, i have never had a problem with it, the turkey deli is quite good. Close Quote
