Meridian Middle School is a public school serving about 350 students in grades 6–8 in Lynden, Washington, within the relatively strong Meridian School District. The school ranked in the 59th percentile among Washington middle schools in 2025–2026, a solid mid-to-upper statewide position. Its ranking has improved considerably from the 40th percentile in 2021–2022, although it declined from the 63rd percentile the previous year. Locally, Meridian is ahead of Blaine Middle School, Vista Middle School, Shuksan Middle School, Horizon Middle School, and Mount Baker Junior High.

English Language Arts is Meridian’s clearest academic strength. In 2025–2026, 52.52% of students were proficient, nearly identical to the Washington rate of 52.81%, and each grade performed at or above its state comparison. Meridian’s ELA results were stronger than those at Lynden Middle School and Nooksack Valley Middle School, though lower than results at Kulshan Middle School, Fairhaven Middle School, and Whatcom Middle School. Results have improved over the longer term, especially in math, but remain uneven across student groups; effectiveness was lowest for special education students and below the schoolwide level for Hispanic and low-income students. Overall, Meridian offers a supportive-size setting with improving results, dependable ELA performance, and clear opportunities to strengthen math, science, and consistency across student populations.
