Summary

Redmond Middle School is a public school for grades 6–8 in Redmond, Washington, serving 1,009 students in the highly rated Lake Washington School District, an area with several of the state’s strongest middle schools. Redmond ranks 24th out of 514 Washington middle schools for 2025–2026, placing it in the 95th percentile and earning a five-star rating. Its 19.8:1 student-teacher ratio and 17.44% free- or reduced-price lunch rate provide useful context for families comparing schools.

Academically, Redmond performs well above Washington averages: 76.16% of students are proficient in English language arts, 71.34% in math, and 73.64% in science. Those results are 23 to 28 percentage points above statewide rates, although they are below the district averages, particularly in science. Redmond is also larger than the nearby comparison schools, including Evergreen Middle School, Timberline Middle School, Rose Hill Middle School, and Kirkland Middle School. Evergreen and Timberline post notably higher proficiency rates, but Redmond compares favorably with Kamiakin Middle School, Northshore Middle School, and Leota Middle School.

The school’s performance has been stable over time, with science improving steadily and English language arts remaining fairly consistent. Math rose through 2024–2025 but declined from 74.26% to 71.34% most recently, making it an area to watch. Grade-level results are relatively even, with no major weakness in one grade. Redmond also shows strong results for many student groups, but its low socioeconomic status subgroup ranks in the 33rd percentile statewide, well below the school’s overall standing. For families, the overall picture is of a stable, high-performing school with strong statewide results and focused opportunities to improve math, science relative to the district, and outcomes for economically disadvantaged students.

Open Quote Very poor quality school. As a student, I have experienced the extremely disappointing measures that teachers make to push their students. I am a Quest student, but I have taken many electives with general education students. I am stunned by the negative environment they put up. Their education standards are very low and most focus on gossip rather than expanding their rather small sphere of knowledge. Quest does not do much in the curriculum to impress, either. However, the teachers actually push some truly gifted students with extra work and the environment is much more competitive for the right things, like better test scores on both fitness and academia. Be prepared to do some at home learning if you attend this school. Close Quote
