Summary

Crestwood Elementary School is a public PK–5 school in Covington, Washington, serving about 386 students in the Kent School District. Its 15.4:1 student-teacher ratio is lower than nearby Horizon Elementary School and Martin Sortun Elementary School. Crestwood ranked in the 59th percentile statewide in 2025–2026, making it an above-average Washington school, although its ranking has declined from the 72nd percentile in 2023–2024.

Academically, Crestwood performs substantially better than the Kent district average. In 2025–2026, 51.06% of students met standards in English language arts, 50.53% in math, and 55.17% in science. Its math result was more than 16 percentage points above the district rate and also exceeded the state average. Among nearby Kent schools, Crestwood was roughly third in English language arts and science and fourth in math. However, Grass Lake Elementary School was notably stronger in English language arts and math, while Covington Elementary School also edged Crestwood in math. Crestwood remained ahead of Cedar Valley Elementary School, Horizon Elementary School, and Jenkins Creek Elementary School.

The clearest academic concern is fifth-grade math, where proficiency was 37.29%, compared with 60.66% in fourth grade. Crestwood’s English learner and low socioeconomic status groups performed relatively well statewide, ranking in the 82nd and 71st percentiles, respectively. Special education results were much weaker, at the 25th percentile, suggesting an area for closer review. Nearby Lake Wilderness Elementary, Cedar River Elementary, and Shadow Lake Elementary posted higher results, but they belong to the much higher-ranked Tahoma School District. Overall, Crestwood is a solid Kent performer with a strong foundation, but reversing its recent decline and improving fifth-grade math and special education outcomes would be important next steps.
