Summary:

Tahoma School District serves about 9,234 students in grades K–12 across nine schools—six elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school—in the Maple Valley area of Washington. The district ranks 10th among 238 Washington districts, placing it in the 96th percentile, and all nine schools perform above statewide proficiency levels in English language arts, math, and science.

Academic performance is strongest at Cedar River Elementary, which ranks in the top 5% of Washington elementary schools and leads the district in all three subjects, especially math and science. Rock Creek Elementary offers strong, balanced results, while Lake Wilderness Elementary is particularly strong in math and science. Among middle schools, Summit Trail Middle School is the higher-ranked option and has especially strong science results. Maple View Middle School has improved considerably in statewide ranking, though its current subject scores remain below district averages.

Tahoma Senior High School stands out for its 93.4% graduation rate, low dropout rate, and excellent 84.17% ELA proficiency, but math and science are notable improvement areas. At the elementary level, Shadow Lake Elementary has the lowest current ELA and math results, despite a major one-year gain in science, while Glacier Park Elementary shows stronger math than ELA performance. Tahoma Elementary has a mixed profile, with math above the district average. Overall, parents can expect a high-performing district with meaningful differences among schools and the clearest opportunities in secondary math and science and targeted elementary support.
