Summary

Columbia Valley Elementary is a public K-5 school serving about 360 students in Vancouver, WA, operating as a mid-performing school within the Evergreen School District (Clark), which itself ranks in the lower third of districts statewide.

The school has shown notable strengths in supporting English Language Learners and students from low-income families, often outperforming the district average in core subjects. However, it faces significant challenges, including a steep decline in 5th-grade math proficiency and particularly weak outcomes for students in special education. Its overall state ranking has fallen from the 66th percentile a decade ago to the 35th percentile in 2024-2025, indicating a concerning downward trend in performance.

Perhaps the most striking insight is the extreme variation in school quality within just a few miles of Columbia Valley Elementary. Nearby schools in the Camas School District, like Grass Valley Elementary and Prune Hill Elementary, are among the state's top performers, while other nearby schools in its own district, such as Crestline Elementary, rank near the bottom. This highlights how district boundaries and resources create vastly different educational opportunities for children living in the same geographic area.

Open Quote Columbia Valley Elementary is an amazing school, it has the most amazing teachers and Principal Mr. Fernandez. The facilities are fantastic and I love how passionate the staff are about their students and their school.

We have multiple fun events during the year and lots of after school clubs and learning activities for our community.

I wouldn't want my children to be anywhere else.
