Summary

Grass Valley Elementary is a top-ranked K-5 public school serving 445 students in the highly-regarded Camas School District in southwest Washington.

The school's academic performance is exceptional, consistently placing it among the very best elementary schools in the state. Its students achieve proficiency rates in English, math, and science that are significantly higher than both state averages and those of other high-performing schools in its own district, such as Dorothy Fox and Prune Hill Elementary. Perhaps most impressively, Grass Valley excels at supporting all students, with state rankings in the 99th percentile for key student subgroups including those from low-income families and those receiving special education services.

This excellence becomes even more striking when comparing schools across district boundaries. While Grass Valley benefits from being in a top-tier district, its effectiveness in using resources stands out, as it outperforms nearby schools in other districts that sometimes have higher per-student spending. For example, there is a dramatic performance gap between Grass Valley and schools just miles away in the Evergreen School District (Clark), like Mill Plain Elementary School and Illahee Elementary School, highlighting how district quality can create very different educational opportunities in the same geographic area.

Open Quote The secretaries and the staff in general are nice. How do I start? My daughter was the most popular girl in Kindergarten in another school. .We moved to the area on first grade she went to Grass Valley, she became aggressive and refusing to go to school. She told me there were bullies in this school. I talked to her teacher and principal to suggest some changes. Her Teacher changed her table to avoid a girl and the principal suggested a couselor for my daughter in 3 weeks nothing was done in terms of counseling My daughter started to have trouble sleeping, she had her 1st UTI because she did not want to go to the restroom at school ......My daughter is not a kind of a "trouble maker " what I mean is she was not aggressive at school or showing disruptive behavior at school . In the middle of her 1st grade I decided to do a drastic change . I decided to change her school against all school advise and now she is super happy in another school with new friends, loves to go to school again, she does not even talk about Grass Valley anymore. For my surprise she does not miss anything. The best thing I did for her. I think academically is a good school but socially is not. Another point is how they handle problems is very ineffective and frustrating Close Quote
