Anacortes High School is a public school serving grades 9–12 in the northwest Washington community of Anacortes, with 766 students and support from the Anacortes School District. It ranks among Washington’s strongest high schools: 16th of 396 statewide in 2025–2026, placing it in the 96th percentile. The school has remained in the top statewide tier for many years.

Academic results are strong in every tested subject. In 2025–2026, 84.66% of students were proficient in English language arts, 67.55% in math, and 78.81% in science—well above both district and state averages. Math improved from 61.84% the prior year, while science has stayed near 79%–80%; ELA remains excellent despite a modest longer-term decline. Compared with nearby Oak Harbor High School, Anacortes was ahead by 14.11 percentage points in ELA, 34.98 in math, and 27.29 in science. It also outperformed La Conner High School and Burlington Edison High School across all three subjects.

Graduation is another major strength: 97.9% of students graduated in 2024–2025, compared with 82.6% statewide and 93.0% at Oak Harbor. The district’s dropout rate was 2.9%, although a current school-specific dropout rate was not reported. Anacortes also posted top-tier statewide subgroup rankings for female and male students, Hispanic and White students, students from low-income households, and military-connected students. Special education results were less consistent, moving from the 94th to the 60th percentile in the latest comparison, making that an area to monitor. Overall, Anacortes stands out as the clear academic and graduation leader among the nearby comprehensive high schools.
