Summary

Glacier Park Elementary is a large, highly-regarded public school serving about 800 students from Pre-K through 5th grade in the high-performing Tahoma School District in Maple Valley, WA.

The school consistently delivers strong academic results, with student proficiency in math (69.8%) and science (70.5%) significantly exceeding both state and district averages. It shows particular strength in supporting Hispanic students and female students, ranking in the 91st percentile for both groups in the most recent data. While Cedar River Elementary is the top academic performer in the immediate area, Glacier Park maintains excellent and steady outcomes, especially when compared to schools in neighboring districts like Kent School District, where performance is markedly lower.

An interesting feature of Glacier Park is its resource efficiency; it spends less per student than other Tahoma School District elementary schools like Lake Wilderness Elementary and Rock Creek Elementary, yet achieves comparable high results. Parents can expect a reliably excellent education here, with noted strengths in math and science, though the school is monitoring a dip in 5th-grade math scores that is consistent with a district-wide pattern.

Open Quote I am still waiting to see the 5 star rating at this school. It has been nothing but a disappointment since my daughter starting attending here in kindergarten last year. So far, we have had "dud" teachers each year. The K teacher was smug, dry, and rude to the kids right in front of the parents. The 1st grade teacher has been very passive aggressive in their responses to questions about my daughters progress, as well as concerns about the classroom. Very condescending. The office staff seem to have every excuse in the world when bringing concerns to them. No one ever takes any responsibility for mistakes or oversights, which are constant. My child was lost by the school staff one day and they just shrugged it off. Many parents, when picking children up, are rude as well. Some just cut you off in the line to pick up your kid and just look at you like, "what?". The only positive so far has been the principal. He is a sincere man who takes responsibility for his staff, something they should learn to do for themselves. Close Quote
