Summary:

Peninsula School District includes 17 schools serving approximately 9,015 students from elementary through high school across the Peninsula area, and ranks in the 92nd percentile among Washington districts. The district has 10 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools, although Henderson Bay Alt High School is identified as an alternative school by name and should be considered separately when comparing high schools.

Elementary schools are the strongest overall part of the district, particularly in math and science. Purdy Elementary School leads the district in overall achievement, including the highest science result at 83.95%. Harbor Heights Elementary School has the strongest elementary ELA and math results, while Pioneer Elementary School has shown remarkable ranking improvement over three years. Swift Water Elementary and Voyager Elementary are also among the district’s stronger schools. Results are more uneven at Evergreen Elementary, Vaughn Elementary School, and Minter Creek Elementary.

Among middle schools, Kopachuck Middle School is the clear leader, followed by Harbor Ridge Middle School. Goodman Middle School performs well in ELA, while Key Peninsula Middle School is substantially lower in all three subjects and may require the most support. At the high-school level, Gig Harbor High leads in ranking, graduation rate, and ELA, while Peninsula High School also has a graduation rate near the district average. High-school math is the main districtwide academic concern, with proficiency below 50% even at the strongest comprehensive high school.
