Central Valley School District in Washington serves 31 schools — 16 elementary, 6 middle, and 9 high — with about 14,700 students, and it ranks 46th of 238 districts in the state (81st percentile, 4 stars). District proficiency beats the state: ELA 60.5% vs. 52.81%, Math 51.2% vs. 43.11%, and Science 57.22% vs. 50.95%. The district also reports a 94.1% graduation rate and a 2.3% dropout rate, well ahead of state rates of 82.6% and 9.8%. A note on the data: values the state suppresses are treated as unknown, not as zero or as a weakness.

Standouts span every level. Spokane Valley Technical ranks 9th of 396 high schools (98th percentile, 5 stars), though as a technical program it is not directly comparable to comprehensive high schools; its 2025–2026 ELA score is suppressed by the state. Horizon Middle School is at the 91st percentile (5 stars), up from the 84th. Among elementaries, Sunrise Elementary (87th percentile) posts the highest elementary Math (70.08%) and Science (79.70%) scores. Ridgeline High School is the strongest comprehensive high school: largest enrollment, 95.9% graduation, 1.9% dropout, and 79.63% ELA — but only 40.89% Math.

Math is the district’s relative weakness, especially in middle and high school, while elementary Science is a bright spot. Poverty tracks with lower outcomes, yet McDonald Elementary School shows 62.30% ELA, 59.84% Math, and 71.05% Science despite a 56.03% free/reduced-lunch rate. Schools needing attention include Opportunity Elementary (25th percentile), Progress Elementary School, North Pines Middle School, and Central Valley Virtual Learning High School. Many schools are improving, and spending or class size alone does not predict achievement.
