The school has made real progress in recent years, rising from the bottom 10% of Virginia high schools a decade ago to the middle of the pack, while posting an exceptionally high graduation rate of 98.2% and a dropout rate of just 0.5%—both far better than the state averages.

Where the school shines: math. Students at Marion Senior High outperform state averages in Algebra I and Geometry, with Geometry proficiency at 87.88% in 2025–2026.
