Edison High is a large comprehensive public high school in Alexandria, Virginia, serving 2,294 students in grades 9–12 as part of Fairfax County Public Schools. In the 2025–26 school year, Edison earned a statewide rank of 126 out of 331 high schools — a major leap from the previous two years, when it ranked 217th and 218th. That places it ahead of most nearby comprehensive high schools, including Annandale High, Mount Vernon High, West Potomac High, Lewis High, Wakefield High, and Alexandria City High, and just behind Hayfield Secondary. Thomas Jefferson High for Science and Technology, a selective magnet school, ranks higher but is not a comparable neighborhood option.

Edison shows notable strengths in several areas. Biology proficiency has consistently exceeded both district and state averages — for example, 75% of 10th graders passed in 2025–26, compared to 62% district-wide and 69% statewide.
