Accomack County Public Schools is a mid-sized Virginia district serving roughly 4,623 students across 11 schools (5 elementary, 2 middle, 3 high, and 1 combined/alternative) in a largely rural, low-income area of Virginia's Eastern Shore. The district ranks 69th of 131 Virginia districts (47th percentile, 2 stars), and nearly every school has 96-100% free/reduced-price lunch eligibility. Overall results vary widely among the schools.

Chincoteague High is the standout, ranking 88th of 331 Virginia high schools (4 stars) with a 97.1% graduation rate and strong test scores in Biology (96.7%), Algebra I (92.9%), and Writing (85.1%). Nandua Middle ranks in the 64th percentile with reading and math scores meeting or exceeding state levels in most grades. Pungoteague Elementary is the top elementary school (52nd percentile), with 5th-grade math at 86.5% and 4th-grade reading at 85.0%. Kegotank Elementary is the most improved, jumping from the 5th to 18th percentile. At the other end, Arcadia High and Metompkin Elementary sit at the 34th and 13th percentiles respectively.
