Summary

Pine View High is a traditional public school in St. George serving grades 10–12, with 1,124 students in the Washington District. Its latest statewide ranking was 55th of 139 Utah high schools, placing it near the 60th percentile and representing a major recovery from 108th place the previous year. The school is currently a middle-to-upper-middle performer statewide, though its results have varied considerably from year to year.

Academic results improved notably in 2025–26. Pine View’s 10th-grade proficiency rates were 45.8% in English language arts, 35.2% in mathematics, and 44.4% in science. Mathematics and science were above state averages, while ELA was slightly below the state and 9.9 percentage points below the district. Compared with nearby traditional schools, Pine View outperformed Snow Canyon High and Dixie High in most tested subjects. However, it remained well behind Desert Hills High and Crimson Cliffs High, which ranked among Utah’s strongest schools and posted substantially higher scores.

The most important concerns involve attendance and completing high school. Pine View’s 2024–25 graduation rate was 86.4%, below both the district’s 93.1% and the state’s 89.8%, while its 9.4% dropout rate was more than twice the district rate. Chronic absenteeism was 21.5%, better than the statewide 23.8% but worse than the district’s 15.4%. On the positive side, Pine View showed strong subgroup effectiveness, including a 90th-percentile ranking for English Language Learners and 74th-percentile effectiveness for low-income students. Overall, the school appears to be making real academic progress, especially in math, science, and student support, but sustaining those gains while improving attendance, persistence, and graduation remains the central challenge.
