Dixie High

Dixie High is a traditional public high school serving grades 10–12 in St. George, southwestern Utah, with 1,263 students and a moderate level of economic need within Washington District. Its statewide ranking has varied considerably, from the 27th percentile in 2021–22 to the 74th percentile in 2024–25 and the 45th percentile in 2025–26, so recent rankings should be viewed as part of a changing pattern rather than a fixed measure of the school.

The strongest indicators are completion outcomes. In 2024–25, Dixie’s graduation rate was 93.3%, above Utah’s 89.8% and slightly above the district’s 93.1%; its dropout rate was 3.7%, well below the state’s 8.5%. Chronic absenteeism has also improved substantially, falling from 35.7% in 2021–22 to 20.6% in 2024–25, although it remains higher than at nearby Desert Hills High, Crimson Cliffs High, and Snow Canyon High. Current testing is mixed: 44.2% of students were proficient in English language arts, 26.6% in mathematics, and 42.4% in science. Science was above the state rate, while mathematics was the clearest academic weakness.

Compared with local leaders Desert Hills High and Crimson Cliffs High, Dixie has lower test scores, graduation rates, and attendance results, though those schools also serve different student populations. Dixie compares more favorably with Snow Canyon High on graduation, dropout, mathematics, and science outcomes. Pine View High recently ranked higher and posted somewhat stronger current test results, but Dixie had notably better graduation and dropout rates. Key priorities are sustaining attendance gains, improving mathematics, and understanding why very strong ninth-grade science results do not carry through to later science performance.
