Summary

Heritage School is a public pre-K–6 elementary school in Ogden, Utah, serving 647 students in an urban community and part of the Ogden City District. The school has a relatively high-need student population, with 60.28% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25. Its student-teacher ratio was 19:1. Heritage received a one-star rating and ranked 522nd of 563 Utah elementary schools, placing it in the 7th percentile statewide.

Academic performance is well below district and state averages, especially in mathematics and science. In 2025–26, Heritage’s calculated average proficiency rates were 24.4% in English language arts, 19.2% in mathematics, and 28.2% in science, compared with approximately 45.7%, 45.7%, and 54.3% statewide. Fifth grade was the weakest grade across all three subjects, including 11.6% proficiency in mathematics and 18.1% in science. Sixth grade was generally strongest, with 31.5% in ELA and 34.3% in science. Heritage performed better than New Bridge School in most tested areas and generally outperformed Leadership Learning Academy - Ogden, but it trailed East Ridge Elementary School, Green Acres School, and Pioneer School by substantial margins.

Attendance is another major concern, although it has improved meaningfully: chronic absenteeism fell from 66.9% in 2020–21 to 42.5% in 2024–25. That remains higher than Utah’s 23.8% rate and most nearby schools, including Lincoln School at 25.3% and Green Acres at 21.1%. Recent mathematics and science gains are encouraging, but continued progress will likely depend on sustaining attendance improvements, strengthening math instruction, focusing on fifth grade, and reviewing support for English language learners, whose effectiveness ranking was at the 4th percentile in 2023–24.
