Summary

Gateway Preparatory Academy is a public K–8 school in Enoch, Utah, serving 732 students in a southern Utah community, and it offers a broader grade range than most nearby elementary schools. The school is part of the Gateway Preparatory Academy district, which ranks 55th of Utah’s 92 districts. Gateway’s latest statewide ranking was 287th of 563 schools, around the 49th percentile, a major improvement from 396th and the 28th percentile the previous year. Its two-star rating reflects mixed results, but the recent upward trend is encouraging.

Gateway’s strongest academic area is elementary English language arts. Students in grades 3–5 averaged about 50.5% proficiency, second only to Enoch School among the nearby comparison schools and slightly ahead of Cedar South School and Iron Springs School. Overall ELA performance was slightly above the Utah average, while mathematics was about 5.1 points below it. Math improved in several grades, including grades 3, 6, and 8, but grade 6 remained a concern at 26.8% proficient. Overall, the school appears to be gaining momentum, with the clearest opportunities in middle-school math, grade 7 science and ELA, and attendance.

If you value your child's education I would stay away from this school. The only children who do well are those that can teach themselves and never disrupt a classroom. If your child struggles at all they will be left behind or ignored. The staff is overwhelmed and struggle to make it through each day. Close Quote

This school is actually quite good. They are still learning how to teach the Montessori Method but they are doing a great job. If your child is not self motivated they have a hard time integrating youth who do not pick it up naturally. I would recommend this school and its staff in level 3 7th and 8th grade. Close Quote
