Summary

Conroe High School is a large public high school in Conroe, TX, serving 5,252 students in grades 9-12 as part of the Conroe Independent School District (Isd). The school has a significant population of students from low socio-economic backgrounds, with about 59-61% qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Over the past decade, Conroe High School has consistently ranked in the middle of the pack among Texas high schools, though recent data shows a slight downward trend, placing it in the 47th-49th percentile with a 2-star rating.

The most striking finding is the stark contrast between Conroe High School and its district rivals in The Woodlands. The Woodlands High School and College Park High School dramatically outperform Conroe in academic metrics. For example, in the 2025-2026 school year, only 31.5% of Conroe students were proficient in Algebra I, compared to 62.7% at The Woodlands and 64.6% at College Park. This pattern repeats across all subjects, with Conroe consistently scoring 20-30 percentage points lower. While Conroe's graduation rate (93.8%) is respectable, it is lower than The Woodlands (97.6%) and College Park (96.4%), and its dropout rate (1.1%) is more than double that of its high-performing peers.

Despite these challenges, Conroe High School shows relative strength in Biology and U.S. History, where proficiency rates match or exceed state averages. The school also performs relatively well for its African American and White students. However, mathematics remains a critical weakness, with Algebra I proficiency rates ranging from 18% to 31% over the past four years. When compared to nearby Booker T Washington High School, a smaller alternative campus just 2.7 miles away, Conroe provides a more effective educational environment for the general student population. For parents considering options, it's worth noting that Conroe High School serves a very different demographic than its Woodlands counterparts, which correlates with significant differences in academic outcomes across the district.

Open Quote Parents be warned. Coaches here will go against concussion protocol. They will put your kid back in the game because they care about having players and not about your child’s brain that needs to heal. The coaches also aren’t responsible and will allow other kids to hold your child forcefully under water! So a child with concussion is being deprived of oxygen. I witnessed this three tunes. And the coaches did nothing! Because they didn’t pay attention! I filed a police report. Please don’t enroll your kids in sports here. Take them somewhere else where coaches care.! It’s not worth your child dying or getting further brain damage because the coaches don’t care. And when you try to report that another player who was hostile and has smelled like drugs in the past, which could explain their hostile behavior, well coaches will kick u out Of their office! Because they don’t care! Safety is not priority here, in fact, keeping your kid alive may not be a priority either. Prayers won’t help this school. Overhaul of employees would do justice. Don’t sacrifice kids lives or their brains! Close Quote

Open Quote As a senior at Conroe High School, the best I can say is the AP program has some wonderful teachers. That aside, the rest of the schoo, basically needs alot more than just improvement. I've seen students get their heads bashed into brick walls, drugs, sex, heavy violence, gangs, alcohol, you name it. Once a girl went into labor in the bathroom. It'll prep you for the real world but that's about it. Close Quote
