Summary

Rosebank Elementary School is a PK–5 public school in East Nashville enrolling about 475 students within the Metro Nashville Public Schools district. The school has transformed itself over the past decade, climbing from the bottom 1% of Tennessee elementary schools in 2014–2015 to the 81st percentile (4 stars, rank 192 of 1019) in 2025–2026.

Rosebank now outperforms its district and the state by wide margins. In the most recent testing year, 50.7% of students were proficient in math (vs. 32.4% district and 43.0% state), 60.7% in ELA (vs. 31.8% district and 40.6% state), and 61.8% in science (vs. 35.4% district and 46.9% state). The school's 5th grade science proficiency of 69.9% is roughly 23 points above the state average. Among nearby schools, Rosebank sits in the middle-to-upper tier — it trails elite schools like Lockeland Elementary School (ranked #2 in the state) and is competitive with Stanford Elementary School and Dan Mills Elementary School, while significantly outperforming Inglewood Elementary School, KIPP Kirkpatrick Elementary School, Hattie Cotton Elementary School, and Explore Community School. Its ELA proficiency is nearly double that of East End Preparatory School (33.3%) and Explore Community School (30.5%).

Rosebank also stands out for its strong attendance and efficient spending. Chronic absenteeism sits at 13.8% versus 23.3% for the district and 18.3% for the state. The school spends $17,214 per student — less than several nearby schools that perform much worse, such as Explore Community School ($27,355) and Hattie Cotton Elementary School ($22,896). Subgroup trends are also promising: Low SES students jumped from the 3rd percentile in 2024–2025 to the 43rd percentile in 2025–2026, and African American students improved from the 23rd to the 43rd percentile over two years. While achievement gaps remain, Rosebank's sustained climb, strong attendance, and efficient spending make it one of the most compelling school-improvement stories in Nashville.

Open Quote This school is a hidden gem in East Nashville. Over the past few years, with a new principle, a major renovation, and a STEAM Magnet grant, this school is certainly on the rise. My son is in Kindergarten and adores STEAM lab, music instruction, art and music class, and his classroom teacher. They work with a Vanderbilt engineer twice a month and he is excelling in every way. Test scores are, unfortunately, outdated at this point and not accurately reflecting what's happening in this school. This is the hidden gem of East Nashville. We love Rosebank! Close Quote

Open Quote Rosebank has done a great job with my kids. They try hard to meet the needs of individual students. I have been very pleased. Close Quote
