Gallatin, Tennessee is served by 17 schools in the Sumner County Schools district, covering elementary through high school and including alternative and virtual options. The strongest story in town is the Liberty Creek and Station Camp feeder clusters: Liberty Creek Elementary School, Liberty Creek Middle School, and Liberty Creek High School all rank in the 96th percentile or higher statewide, while Station Camp High School is the highest-ranked school in the city at 10th out of 400 high schools. These two clusters post average proficiency scores in the high 60s to low 70s, far outpacing the rest of the city.

In contrast, older in-town schools lag significantly. Vena Stuart Elementary School, Benny C. Bills Elementary School, Guild Elementary School, Rucker Stewart Middle School, and Joe Shafer Middle School all rank in the bottom half of their peer groups, with average proficiency between 28% and 35%.
