Summary:
Woonsocket, Rhode Island, has two high schools serving grades 9–12: Woonsocket High School and BEACON Charter School. In 2025–26, the average proficiency rate across the two schools was below the state rate in all five reported science, SAT, and PSAT10 measures. The clearest overall difference is that BEACON led Woonsocket High School on every latest-year test measure, while the area’s average remained below the state in each.
BEACON Charter School stands out for current test proficiency, with advantages over Woonsocket High School ranging from 2.4 percentage points on grade 11 SAT math to 28.4 points on grade 11 science. The largest other gaps were 21 points in grade 10 PSAT10 ELA and 20 points in PSAT10 math. BEACON’s 29.8% PSAT10 math proficiency also edged the state’s 29.3%, though the school was below the state in its other four measures. Woonsocket High School had the stronger graduation result: 88.2% in 2024–25, compared with BEACON’s 84.4% and the state’s 85.5%. Its test results were lower than BEACON’s in all five comparisons.
