Summary

Gresham High School is a large 9–12 comprehensive high school at 1200 N Main Ave in Gresham, Oregon, serving 1,685 students — the third-largest school in its local comparison group — as part of Gresham-Barlow School District 10J, a district that itself ranks 114th of 141 Oregon districts.

On state rankings, the school sits 240th of 271 Oregon high schools for 2025-2026 and has slid from the 70th percentile a decade ago to roughly the 8th–11th percentile today, with most of that decline happening before the pandemic. Proficiency is low across the board: about 28% of students meet the ELA standard, and only 8.6% meet the math standard — roughly a quarter of the state rate and more than 11 points below the district's own average. Attendance is the most striking concern: 58.6% of students were chronically absent in 2024-2025, a rate that has risen for five straight years and is higher than every other comprehensive high school nearby except Reynolds High School (57.2%). Per-student spending rose 18% over three years to $17,188, even as results fell.

The bright spot is graduation: 77.0%, above the district every year, though about six points below the state and essentially flat for five years. The most revealing comparison is Sam Barlow High School, four miles away in the same district, with nearly the same enrollment, poverty rate, and funding — yet it ranks at the 59th percentile, with 54.7% ELA proficiency, an 89.4% graduation rate, and 15.6 points lower absenteeism. Springwater Trail High School, also in-district, posts the highest graduation rate in the group at 92.0%. Similar students and similar budgets, very different results.

Haven't been E-mailed once about anything regarding e-learning. My child isn't allowed to view their schedule, and while we were told to apply for online learning in a messy PTA call, no such links have been provided.
Majority of the staff ignores E-mails, my child comes home talking about certain teachers making fun of parents for their desperate efforts to reach out.
This school needs help, I'm ashamed telling my friends that my child goes here. Close Quote
