Summary

Perry High School is a 4-star public comprehensive high school in the Perry Local district in Massillon, OH, serving grades 9–12 with 1,456 students. In 2025–2026, it ranked 142nd of 795 Ohio high schools (82nd percentile), and its district, Perry Local, ranked 121st of 773 districts (84th percentile, 4 stars). Perry’s statewide rank percentile has risen from 69th in 2020–2021 to 82nd in 2025–2026, with mostly 4-star ratings over the past decade. That makes it one of the stronger comprehensive high schools in the immediate Massillon–Canton area.

Perry scores above the state in every tested subject. Its strongest results are American Government (91.8%, about 20 points above state), American History (88.0%, about 15 points above), and Algebra I (83.0%, about 21 points above). Geometry is its lowest end-of-course score at 57.4%, but that is still 14 points above the state and a major improvement from 42.5% in 2023–2024. Compared with nearby schools, Perry is far ahead of Canton South High School, Washington High School, and McKinley High School in almost every subject. Jackson High School generally posts higher proficiency, especially in English II (86.0% vs. Perry’s 73.1%) and Geometry (73.4% vs. 57.4%), though Perry’s overall state rank is higher in 2025–2026.

Perry’s graduation rate is very high at 97.9%, essentially tied with Jackson and far above Canton South, Washington, McKinley, and alternative schools such as Choices Alternative School and Canton Harbor High School. However, chronic absenteeism is a clear concern: 29.5% in 2025–2026, up from 7.9% in 2023–2024 and much higher than Jackson’s 12.4%. Perry also serves low-income students especially well: its low-SES subgroup ranks in the 89th percentile statewide, even though its free/reduced lunch rate was 43.54% in 2024–2025. Special education improved from the 22nd percentile in 2024–2025 to the 58th percentile in 2025–2026. The main academic focus areas are Geometry and English II, along with the rising absenteeism trend.
