Tri-Valley Middle School is a 6–8 school in Dresden, Ohio, a small rural community in Muskingum County, serving 475 students as part of Tri-Valley Local. The school ranks 359th of 1,046 Ohio middle schools (66th percentile, 3 stars), above the state median but below its own district, which is 184th of 773 districts (76th percentile, 4 stars). After climbing from about the 50th percentile in the mid-2010s to a peak of 73rd in 2022-23, it has plateaued in the mid-60s for three straight years.

Against the state, Tri-Valley beats Ohio's proficiency rate in four of five tested areas. The exception is 8th-grade science, which slid from 77.2% in 2022-23 to 61.1% in 2025-26, now at the state average of 61.2%. Nearby West Muskingum Middle School and East Muskingum Middle School rank higher overall and outscore Tri-Valley in 8th-grade science and ELA; West Muskingum is a standout with 83.7% in science and 82.9% in ELA 7. Among same-grade-span peers, Tri-Valley leads in Math 7, ELA 7, and ELA 8. Low-socioeconomic-status students moved backward, from the 62nd percentile in 2023-24 to the 39th in 2025-26, while special education students improved from the 25th to the 48th percentile. The school achieves these mid-60s-percentile outcomes with the highest teacher load in the comparison set and mid-pack spending of $8,625 per student (2018-19). That is efficient, but the rising ratio—18.8 to 21.0 to 22.6 in two years—poses a capacity risk if enrollment holds and staffing stays flat.
