Summary

Lakeville Elementary School is a small public school in rural Lakeville, Ohio (Holmes County) serving about 100 students in grades 3–5 as part of West Holmes Local schools. Because it is an upper-elementary building only, students arrive at grade 3 from Nashville Elementary School, and it is the smallest of the district's three elementaries. Its most recent statewide standing is 768th of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools (51st percentile, 3 stars) — essentially the state median, and a real slide from two years ago, when it sat at the 87th percentile with 4 stars.

In 2025–26, Lakeville still scored above the Ohio average in five of seven tested subject-and-grade areas, but its average margin over the state has shrunk from roughly +22 points in 2022–23 to about +1.7 points. More striking: for the first time in four years it trails its own district in all seven tested areas, most sharply in 4th grade ELA, where it is 13.5 points below the state and 22.1 points below the district. Within West Holmes, Lakeville has flipped from the top-ranked elementary in 2023–24 to the lowest in 2025–26 (51st percentile), while Millersburg Elementary School rose to the 80th percentile and Killbuck Elementary School sits at 57th. One clear strength: chronic absenteeism is about 7.2%, roughly half the district rate and better than nearby Parkview Elementary School and Cornerstone Elementary School.

Special education students rank in the 67th percentile — above the school's overall standing — and 5th grade ELA has held steady above the state average. The areas most worth watching are 4th grade ELA (48.3%, down from 88.6% three years ago), a new gender gap (females at the 36th percentile versus 67th for males), and low-income students falling from the 83rd to the 41st percentile as free/reduced lunch rose to 45%. Spending and class size do not explain the gap with Millersburg, which spends less per student. With only about 30 students per grade, one student is worth roughly 3 percentage points, so these should be tracked another year or two before being treated as settled trends.
