West Geauga High School is a public high school in Chesterland, Ohio — a suburban community east of Cleveland — serving about 641 students in grades 9 through 12 as part of the West Geauga Local district. It is one of Ohio's strongest high schools: in 2025–2026 it ranked 25th of 795 high schools (97th percentile, five stars), and in 2024–2025 it ranked 4th of 855 (100th percentile, five stars). The district ranks 10th of 773 Ohio districts. Among nearby schools, only Chagrin Falls High School ranks higher, with Kirtland High School, Kenston High School, Orange High School, and Beachwood High School close behind.

Academically, results are excellent. The 2025–2026 graduation rate was 98.6%, and proficiency on state End-of-Course exams was well above state averages in every subject: American Government 97.7%, American History 96.0%, Biology 93.9%, English II 91.1%, Geometry 87.9%, and Algebra I 83.8%. Social studies and science are standout strengths. Math is the relative soft spot: Algebra I is the school's lowest subject and falls below the district's 87.9% and behind Chagrin Falls (90.5%), Beachwood (87.5%), and Mayfield High School (86.8%).

Chronic absenteeism is the main non-academic watch point. At 17.4% in 2025–2026, it is above the district's 11.0% and above Kenston (13.2%), Orange (14.2%), and Chagrin Falls (16.8%), though far better than Wickliffe Upper School, Richmond Heights High School, and Brush High School. It improved sharply from 27.8% in 2022–2023 to 13.2% in 2024–2025 before rising again. Notably, students from low-income families, students with disabilities, and both boys and girls rank in the top 2–5% statewide, showing broad effectiveness.
