Raymond Elementary School

Raymond Elementary School is a small village school at 21511 Main St in Raymond, Ohio, serving grades K–4 with 243 students — the smallest elementary in its comparison group, and roughly 40–50% the size of its fellow Marysville Exempted Village elementaries.

After a decade as one of the stronger buildings in its area, Raymond slipped to the 43rd percentile statewide in 2025–26 — the lowest result in the ten years shown, and down from the 75th–92nd percentile range it held from 2018–19 through 2023–24. Nearly all of that drop traces to one grade level rather than the whole school. Raymond's 3rd graders scored 80.0 in math, above both their district (76.2) and the state (62.1), trailing only Navin (86.7) among comparison schools. Its 4th graders, by contrast, scored 42.6 in math and 51.1 in English language arts — far below district and state, and second-lowest among the eleven schools compared. Because a K–4 building this size has only about 50–60 children per grade, swings this large can reflect one cohort's experience rather than a broad instructional problem. The question for parents is whether the strong 3rd grade results follow those students into 4th grade next year.

Two other signals matter. Chronic absenteeism is 7.7% — the lowest of all eleven comparison schools and roughly half the district rate — and it improved even as test scores fell. Per-pupil spending ($11,329) is the highest in the peer group, and special education students ranked in the 85th percentile, suggesting capacity is not the constraint. Poverty is the headwind to watch: free/reduced lunch eligibility rose from 15.83% to 26.34% in two years. Meanwhile the district overall held at the 73rd percentile while Northwood and Edgewood stayed in the high 70s and Mill Valley sat at 51st.
