Summary

Ridgemont Elementary School is a K–5 school in Mount Victory, Ohio, serving 204 students in the Ridgemont Local district. It is the smallest school in its surrounding comparison group, and in 2025–26 it ranked 1,052nd of 1,560 Ohio elementary schools (33rd percentile, 2 stars), while the district ranked 543rd of 773 (30th percentile, 1 star). Average proficiency across tested subjects was 52.2%, compared with Ohio’s 63.8%, and the school has held at the 33rd percentile for two years after a slide from a 2020–21 peak.

There are real strengths. Chronic absenteeism was 9.2% in 2025–26, among the lowest in the local group and far below neighbors like Bellefontaine Intermediate School (18.4%), Elgin Elementary School (18.7%) and James A. Garfield Elementary School (27.6%). The school also has the lowest student-teacher ratio in the area at 13.0 students per teacher, ahead of Hardin Northern Elementary School (13.1) and far below Raymond Elementary School (22.5). Attendance and class size have improved sharply since 2022–23, though achievement has not yet followed.

Achievement is the main concern. The school is below the state in six of seven tested subjects, and its 4th grade math result—34.5% proficient versus 67.3% statewide—is the lowest in the comparison set. Fifth grade ELA is a bright spot, beating the state four years running (79.5% vs. 70.4% in 2025–26), but math has been below state at grades 3 and 4 every year. Nearby Hardin Northern Elementary School serves a nearly identical number of students and has a similar class size, yet ranks in the 78th percentile and its reported per-pupil spending is about 34% higher. North Union Elementary School (62nd percentile) and Benjamin Logan Elementary School (59th) also outperform it.
