Summary

Harding High School is a public 9–12 school in Marion, OH, serving 916 students in the Marion City district, which makes it the largest traditional high school in its nearby comparison group. It ranks 626th of 795 Ohio high schools in 2025–26 — the 21st percentile, with 1 star — down from the 28th percentile the year before. Every nearby traditional high school ranks higher: Mt Gilead High School (67th percentile), River Valley High School (60th), Pleasant High School (48th), North Union High School (46th), Ridgedale Junior/Senior High School (42nd), Elgin High School (37th), and Cardington-Lincoln High School (35th). Only the alternative-style Buckeye Community School - Marion and Tomorrow Center rank lower.

There are real signs of improvement. Harding's graduation rate rose to 91.3%, up from 85.5%, and chronic absenteeism fell to 42.4% from 63.0% in 2021–22. Even so, Harding trails nearly every nearby traditional school, which graduate 94–100% of students, and its absenteeism is more than double Pleasant's 14.3% and Mt Gilead's 14.4%. On state End-of-Course tests, Harding scored below the state in all six subjects, with the widest gaps in Algebra I (43.0% vs. 61.6%) and American History (57.4% vs. 73.2%); Geometry is lowest at 28.5%. Algebra I did climb from 29.2% a year earlier. Math and attendance look like the school's biggest pressure points.
