Summary

Linden Elementary School is a PK–6 school serving 674 students in the Hamilton City district in Hamilton, Ohio, and it is the largest of the four Hamilton City elementaries in this comparison set.

For 2025-26, Linden ranks 978th of 1,560 Ohio elementaries (37th percentile, 2 stars) — above its own district's standing and the strongest of its same-district peers, edging Crawford Woods Elementary School and clearly outpacing Fairwood Elementary School and Riverview Elementary School. It does this while spending the least per student of the four (roughly $250–$600 less per pupil). Attendance is a real bright spot: chronic absenteeism has fallen for three straight years (28.6% → 25.8% → 24.4% → 20.6%) and now runs 10.5 points below the district's 31.1%, the best rate among Hamilton City schools here. Math is the engine, especially 5th-grade math at 71.0% — 19.1 points above the district and 11.9 above the state. English Language Arts is the drag at 50.9%, about 1.6 points below the district and 12 points below the state.

Two things to watch. Fourth grade is the soft spot: 4th-grade math has fallen 71.1 → 57.4 → 51.4 over three years, and 4th-grade ELA sits at 43.1%, nearly 19 points below the state. Class sizes are also rising fast, with the student-teacher ratio climbing from 13.4 (2022-23) to 19.2 (2024-25). And while Linden's overall rank peaked at 48th percentile in 2021-22, it has since slipped to 37th. The closest comparison is Fairfield West Elementary School, just 0.78 miles away but in Fairfield City; it ranks 617th (60th percentile, 3 stars) with 12.4% chronic absenteeism and beats Linden in nearly every tested subject.
