Summary

Oyler School is a PK–12 alternative school serving 512 students at 2121 Hatmaker St in Cincinnati, Ohio, as part of Cincinnati Public Schools. The district is ranked 609 out of 773 Ohio districts, placing it in the 21st percentile with a 1-star rating. Oyler's student-teacher ratio was 14.0 in 2024–2025, lower (and therefore more favorable) than most nearby schools, including Western Hills University High School, Mount Auburn Preparatory Academy, and John J. Gilligan Digital Academy. Reported per-student spending was $10,706 in 2018–2019, a middle-to-upper figure among nearby schools.

Oyler's graduation results are relatively strong but uneven. In 2025–2026 the graduation rate was 91.4%, above the district's 80.6% and above John J. Gilligan Digital Academy (68.8%) and Western Hills University High School (67.5%), though below selective schools such as Spencer Center for Gifted and Exceptional Students and School For Creative and Performing Arts, both at 100%. In 2024–2025, however, Oyler's rate of 75.0% fell below the district's 86.1%, so year-to-year swings are real. Chronic absenteeism is Oyler's most consistent challenge: 64.5% in 2025–2026 versus the district's 44.6%, nearly 20 percentage points higher and above every nearby school except Mount Auburn Preparatory Academy and Western Hills University High School.

On 2025–2026 state tests, Oyler trailed the district in most subjects, scoring above it in only 2 of 21 listed areas. One bright spot was American Government, where Oyler's 75% beat the district's 65.3% and the state's 71.6%. Eighth grade math was also above the district (39.3% versus 24.3%) and above Pleasant Hill Middle School, Academy Of World Languages School, and School For Creative and Performing Arts. Weak areas included 3rd grade math (4.8%), 6th grade English language arts (5.3%), 5th grade science (9.7%), Geometry (15.5%), 6th grade math (16.2%), and Biology (17.9%), all well below district and state. Because Oyler is small, individual grade results can swing sharply from year to year, and as an alternative school it serves a different population than many comparison schools.

I think this is the best school anyone could every send there kids.
I went to Oyler until my freshman year of high school and then I move states. I want everone to know that this school and those teachers were the ones who helped me get to where I am today.. I am now going to graduate in the year of 2010.. Close Quote
