Summary

Las Vegas High School is a large public high school in Las Vegas, Nevada, serving grades 9–12 with 2,510 students as part of the Clark County school district. It is one of the biggest schools in its immediate area, and it serves a high-need population: in 2024–2025, 100% of students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. In 2025–2026, the school ranked 92nd of 105 Nevada high schools, at the 12th percentile with a 1-star rating, even though the Clark County district as a whole ranked 5th of 12 districts with 4 stars.

Outcomes are mixed. Graduation is a clear strength: 94.2% in 2024–2025, above the district's 86.6% and the state's 85.4%, and the highest among nearby schools with reported rates — Chaparral High School at 90.5%, Equipo Academy at 90.2%, Eldorado High School at 88.2%, and Desert Pines High School at 85.3%. Chronic absenteeism, however, is 36.9% in 2025–2026. That is down from 56.5% in 2022–2023, but still above the district (27.0%) and state (25.5%). Test proficiency is very low: ACT Math 5.7%, ACT English 38.4%, and EOC Science 10.2%; the 10th- and 9th-grade science figures are suppressed, meaning they are unknown. Just 0.78 miles away, East Career and Technical Academy High School reports ACT Math of 22.2%, ACT English of 59.0%, and science of 22.5%, with 19.4% absenteeism.

Per-student spending rose from $7,760 in 2020–2021 to $10,729 in 2023–2024, and the student-teacher ratio improved from 24.2 to 21.6. So far, those investments have not shown up in test scores. Overall, the school gets students to graduation at a high rate, but math and science proficiency and attendance remain urgent needs.
