In 2025-26, Mitchell Elementary ranked 169th of 346 New Mexico elementary schools — 51st percentile, 3 stars — placing it near the state midpoint and ahead of its district’s overall 37th-percentile standing. The school has recovered from a 2018-19 low of 26th percentile and 1 star, though it has not returned to its 2014-15 level. Compared with nearby schools, that statewide average looks more modest: seven of ten nearby schools outrank Mitchell, and within two miles are two top-1% schools, Hubert H Humphrey Elementary and S. Y. Jackson Elementary. Mitchell’s language arts (42.42%) is close to district (43.55%) and state (43.34%), but math (22.22%) trails district (25.74%) and state (25.54%) and is far behind neighbors such as Comanche Elementary (37.82%) and Osuna Elementary (49.32%).
