Summary:

Epsom School District has one school, Epsom Central School, serving students from kindergarten through eighth grade in Epsom, New Hampshire. With 378 students, it is the area’s only elementary and middle-grade campus, so there are no other district schools to compare. The school has a relatively favorable student–teacher ratio of 10.8 to 1, and about 20% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–2025.

Overall, the school’s results are mixed but improving. Reading is the strongest subject: 55% of students were proficient, matching the New Hampshire average. Mathematics was close to the state average at 43%, while science was weaker at 33%, five points below the state rate. Some grade-level results are especially encouraging. Seventh-grade students performed very well, with 78% proficient in reading and 56% in math. Third-grade math, fifth-grade reading, and fifth-grade science also exceeded state results. These strengths suggest that some grades and instructional areas are performing effectively.

Parents should pay particular attention to the uneven results in the upper grades. Eighth-grade students had proficiency rates of 44% in reading, 25% in math, and 21% in science, all below state averages. Sixth-grade reading and math and fifth-grade math were also areas of concern. At the same time, schoolwide performance improved from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 in all three subjects, and the school’s ranking rose from the 29th to the 49th percentile over the three-year period shown. In practical terms, Epsom Central School shows positive momentum, but families may want to ask how the school supports students in Grades 6–8, especially in mathematics and science, and how it prepares eighth graders for high school.
