Chichester School District

The Chichester School District has one school, Chichester Central School, a small K–8 elementary school serving about 192 students in the community of Chichester, New Hampshire. With a student-teacher ratio of 9.1:1, the school offers a relatively small-school setting and is the only option within the district, so there are no local school-to-school comparisons.

Chichester Central School has its strongest academic results in reading and science, particularly in the upper grades. In 2025–2026, overall reading proficiency was 61%, six points above the New Hampshire average, while science proficiency was 44%, also six points above the state. Eighth-grade reading was an exceptional strength, with 92% of students proficient compared with 51% statewide. The school’s ranking also dropped from the 81st percentile and four stars to the 42nd percentile and two stars, although rankings can shift with changing student groups and statewide performance. Families should view the school as a small, generally solid K–8 option with especially strong older-grade reading and science, while asking about math supports, sixth-grade performance, and how the school is addressing recent year-to-year changes.
