Summary

C B Eller Elementary School is a small, rural pre-K-5 school in Elkin, North Carolina, serving 248 students in Wilkes County Schools. Its students come from one of the highest-poverty populations in the region, with nearly all eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. The school was long a standout, ranking in the 96th percentile statewide in 2017-2018 and in the 92nd percentile with a 5-star rating in 2021-2022. Its current standing, however, has slipped to a 2-star rating in the 42nd percentile — below several nearby rural schools it once outperformed.

Despite the decline, C B Eller has genuine strengths.
