Kingswood Elementary is a Pre-K through 5th grade public school in Cary, NC, serving 427 students in the Wake County Schools district, a district that ranks in the 76th percentile statewide. Kingswood itself earned a 3-star rating and sat at the 62nd percentile in 2025-2026, placing it in the middle of North Carolina elementary schools. Its neighborhood, though, is unusually competitive: Laurel Park Elementary (93rd percentile), Weatherstone Elementary (87th), Farmington Woods Elementary (85th), Cary Elementary (84th), and Northwoods Elementary (77th) all post stronger results nearby. Only Cardinal Charter Academy lands at the same percentile.

Results inside the school are uneven in important ways. When compared to schools statewide serving similar populations, Kingswood's economically disadvantaged, English Language Learner, and gifted students rank in the bottom half (from roughly the 13th to the 28th percentile), a pattern that has persisted for several years. Special education students, on the other hand, have ranked at the 76th to 87th percentile in recent years, a clear bright spot. Grade-level scores are also mixed: 4th-grade math proficiency reached 70.1%, nearly matching the Wake County average, and 5th-grade science came in above the state average. Reading, however, trailed the district at every grade level; only 55.7% of 3rd graders were proficient, about 10 points behind the Wake County average. Kingswood's overall ranking has also moved around a lot, from the 40th percentile in 2022-2023 up to the 70th percentile in 2024-2025, then back to 62nd.

The school's underlying resources look better than its test scores suggest. Chronic absenteeism is 16.9%, lower than the district average of 20.5% and the state's 24.2%. The student-teacher ratio of 12.6:1 is well below nearby Weatherstone (15.1:1), Cary Elementary (14.7:1), and Laurel Park (14.7:1), and per-pupil spending of roughly $11,660 exceeds what most of those schools spend. Yet these advantages have not translated into consistently strong academics, particularly in early reading. Kingswood is best described as a mid-tier school with solid attendance, small classes, and strong funding, sitting in a Cary neighborhood full of top performers, with room to grow in reading and to serve its students more evenly across all populations.
