As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The AP CAPSTONE at Western Guilford is phenomenal. If you have a high academic kid AP-CAP it gives them the BEST of both worlds. You get a traditional high school experience with a rigorous AP program starting Freshman year. AP course credit is VERY EASY to understand versus IB credit when it comes to applying for college. AP Students take all their coursework together in team settings. The Principal, Director and Counselor do a great job welcoming all the new students into the program and hosting multiple events on and off campus. Music/Band Director is very enthusiastic and has a great up and coming HS Band. The school has very few discipline problems from what we have seen and is no different than any other school in GCS. Teams are a bit smaller, but that just means more players get a chance to play on the team versus the mega high schools in the county. New gym, weight room, locker rooms and athletic training facilities are better than most small colleges. New Cafeteria is coming soon. If you are between IB, Early College and AP-CAP you should definitely consider WGHS. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
