Central Davidson Middle is a public school in Lexington, NC, serving roughly 686 students in grades 6–8 as part of Davidson County Schools. The school carries a 3-star rating and ranks in the 58th percentile of North Carolina middle schools — a solid, stable position that looks especially impressive given that nearly all of its students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Among nearby middle schools with similarly high poverty levels, including E Lawson Brown Middle, Lexington Middle School, Tyro Middle, Trinity Middle School, and Erwin Middle, Central Davidson has the strongest state standing by a clear margin.

The school's clearest academic strength is 6th-grade math, where 72.1% of students scored proficient in the most recent year — well ahead of the 61.6% district and 59.2% state averages, a pattern that has held for three straight years. Central Davidson also posts unusually strong results for students who are historically underserved: low-income, Hispanic, English Learner, and special education students all rank in roughly the 68th to 79th percentile statewide when compared with similar students elsewhere. Central Davidson also spends less per student than most comparable high-poverty schools nearby, which makes its results all the more notable. If the school can carry its 6th-grade momentum through 8th grade, it has clear potential to move from solidly above average to consistently excellent.

Only three weeks into the 2014-2015 school year things are not looking good.The office staff is not friendly or helpfull.This school is extremely over crowed.I have already had to call to set up a conference due to the fact that my daughter who just started sixth grade told me yesterday that her math teacher flew into a screaming rage because some of the students did not turn in a paper.This teacher also went and got the other teachers in that block so they could also have a say in this matter. My daughter did have her paper however she was treated as thou she did not.I am extremely disappointed and very angry at the thought of what should be a role model for these children acting in such a manner.This school talks to the students and sends home papers for my daughter and myself to sign on anti bulling but a lot of the teachers do not lead by example.
